Art Lab: Dream Diary Comics (morning)

In this lab, students will reflect on dreams they’ve had—whether funny, strange, scary, or comforting. They’ll start by writing down words, images, or short stories based on what they remember, including how the dream made them feel. Using those notes, students will create a 1- or 2-page comic that brings their dream to life. They’ll explore ways to show emotion through color, shading, facial expressions, and layout—whether the dream plays out as a full story or just flashes of images.

Animation Lab: Stop Motion Studio: Paper, Sand + Charcoal (afternoon)

Experiment with different materials and techniques to create your own stop motion animations. In this lab, you'll explore how to animate with paper cutouts, sand, and charcoal drawings. We'll look at examples of each style, then use iPads to bring your ideas to life frame by frame. Students will create short animations using each method, learning how movement, timing, and texture can tell a story without words.
