Comic Book Visual Narrative: Traditional + Digital Techniques
This lab takes you on an immersive journey into the captivating world of hand-drawn narratives, with a touch of digital exploration. Delve into storytelling through comic books, cartooning, comic strips and manga, uncovering the fundamental elements of a compelling narrative: introduction, conflict, climax, and resolution. Throughout our exploration, we'll focus on character development, refining our skills in crafting characters that come alive on the page. Engage in collaborative projects that foster creativity and camaraderie among the group. Additionally, we'll explore the rich history of both comics and manga, gaining insight into their evolution and cultural significance. Join the fun as we dive into the vibrant world of visual storytelling.
Class Objectives:
- Understand the fundamental elements of storytelling, including introduction, conflict, climax, and resolution, through hands-on exploration of comic books, cartooning, comic strips, and manga.
- Develop skills in character development, learning techniques to craft dynamic and relatable characters that enhance narrative depth and engagement.
